WRITING RESOLUTION: PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

Writing…ehm…, when I hear this subject I always feel that it is a difficult subject. The subject to which I hate much. Why? I do not know why. Truly I like writing notes, writing diary, and so on. But when someone have me to write about some topics, I think it is a difficult task , and I feel that I can not do it, can not to finish it well. Did I get an annoying experience about writing? No, I think not. As far as I know, I had not an experience like that. Or maybe, it is just my silly fear. But what thing made me fear. In fact, writing makes me happier. I always write in my diary about what thing influenced me. By write this arrangement, I become more comfort, see everything be nicer. If our problem is saved by ourselves, it can be more difficult to solve. We do not know weather we can solve it. But if we share our problem with somebody else, at least write it in our daily book or diary, we will make it easier not so be imposed on. In writing 1, I always write most of the task, but those just write the sentences and paragraph same as the sentences or paragraphs in the book. And I like to write it, because I like my hand-writing. It looks as a good form of hand-writing. He…he…he…he…he… In other hands, I like writing because of my hand-writing, according to my statements at the previous paragraph. I have been beginning to write my dairy as well as my note about religion teaching in English since I joined this degree. I always try to develop my English, and one of the ways to develop it is by writing the important thing in English. This method also improves our Basic English language, particularly in vocabularies and writing. We can find another methods that more comfortable for you. Firstly we try to develop our English in vocabularies and writing. Then we try to develop our speaking English. And we must brave to speak in English, if not we will not get some learning about this language. Because knowledge can be get from every event. The last subject of writing 1, full of many assignments that had to finish in a short time. I think that time was not short, it depend on our selves in the time management. Different with writing 1, in writing 2, I learned more writing methods. Such as 33 formula which show me the kind of English grammar. It is so difficult to write in English language. Furthermore to write text in English, writing in Indonesian I am not sure I can. But if I write in Indonesian, surely it is easier then in English. As I am Indonesian so I can write in Indonesian language although just a little bit. In Indonesian language there are many vocabularies that can not be translated into English. I always confuse with this translation. It is difficult to look up the suitable words that show the Indonesian meaning. Sometimes I get more words that have the same meaning and I confuse which words that are the match words. I realize that I have not so many vocabularies yet. And that is one of the difficultness in writing English. But it is not easy to build our own vocabularies. We have to apply the vocabularies into a sentence; it means we can remember it easier. We look for the new words then we do not forget to use it in every sentence so that we will not forget it. I really do not want to write anything. Rightly, writing is the most annoying thing for me. Weather because the difficultness or not, I still make it the most annoying thing in the world. I tried to join the journalism society and organization. I wish I could improve my ability in writing, at least to make me like writing. But, in the truth I can not find my interest in writing. Sometimes I want to write a short story, but finally I can not to start it and I do not know what thing I will write about. Since in the university, I have been joining the journalism society and organization too. I am more interested in the journalism graphic design than in the writing journalism. But if I created, anyway, short text about something, I would be proud and said “finally, I can finish this text” or “justly, I can write”. He…he…he…, I get writing obsession syndrome. And about this task, write an essay in ten pages, I consider it as the great assignment in this semester. Pyuh…, tired deh! In my mind, I always think “can I do it?” My friend told me that I must finish it. Whatever score that I will be gotten, that is not matter; write all of the thing that I think, whatever, and everything that I think. That saying makes more optimists, I can do it. I remember a wise word which I just got when I was child, “you can if you think you can”. Truly, I realize that. But I can not make it as a great spirit for me. I always think that I can not. That is wrong, I knew but I can not reveal this mind. Maybe all of people ever feel that. They ever find the difficult time, difficult event in their life. As well as me my self. But they are not fear with it. They try to solve it and make it as an experience that will give more profit for them in their next life. And in writing 2, I try to improve my ability in writing too. It is one of my learning ways in writing. I can take the other ways to improve it. Whenever and wherever, we can get many learning ways. According to us weather we can use this opportunity well. In this subject at this semester, I got a lot of material about writing. To learn about writing, we have a lot of ways. E-learning made me more optimists to join this class. Using computer makes me do not feel sleepy, even trying to sleep. It gives more fun. While join the writing subject, I open another website or the other applications of internet explorer. And Mr. Gun, my writing 2 lecturer, let us do it, obviously our task is finished before. Then about Mr. Gun…, he is an extraordinary lecturer. Mr. Gun is one of English lectures in the Faculty of Languages and Arts, Yogyakarta State University. He is belonging to one of the senior lectures there too. His posture are not so fat, not so short, but in medieval. He wears glasses, had a write hair, and when he teaches the classes, he always bring a laptop (if he bring a set of computer, it is must be difficult to bring, is not it?). At the first impression, I suppose that he is scare and horrid, but in fact we are deceived by his outer style. He is not only kind but very kind, even more. His familiar attitude when he teaches us, makes us are shook by all of his teaching methods which are so good. He is an interesting lecturer; in means he can take our interest and makes us will not to move our eyesight to other things (expect to move our heads from the computer screen). His teaching methods are different with other lecturers. Those are so comfortable, comfort us too and make us not bored. He makes this class more alive. He is so clever. He can help us to solve our difficulties problem solving, in every part of writing. In every meeting he always teaches some new things, new innovations, so on, and maybe about his new laptop which makes him often does some trouble in his computer programming. One of my classmates said that he is the most innovative lecturer and so up date. It is means, he is an intellectual lecturer. There is someone who said that he is so friendly. In our sight, he is a wise lecturer even though sometimes he likes to a joke, but it does not fade his wise. And despite of his old, he still strong and has more energy. He always reflects his enthusiasm when he teaches us. It makes us to follow his spirit. HORAAAAAAAAS… Mr. Gun often comes lately to the class, indeed. But it does not loose his charm as the coolest lecturer and still become the most favorite lecturer. Mr. Gun is who as still waters run deep. Two thumbs up for Mr. Gun. Many methods in writing are taught by him, but I think that is not all of his methods yet. I still remember 33 formulas. It makes us confuse enough. We have to memorize it as quick as possible. That is the lesson that I most remember. Besides that, I hope after I had joined this subject, I would more confident to write everything. I think Mr. Gun do not give us all about his writing methods yet. But I still have to improve it regularly and try to write everything that makes me get more experience in writing. Because practice makes perfect, right? Writing helps me to make a mini-thesis. Thesis? It seems so far to think it because I am still in the early semester. But I have a little bit illustration of my nest thesis. At the next semester, exactly at 5th or 6th semester I will take the specification in English Literature. Then in my thesis, I will take some phenomenal works from some classical writers and I will appreciate those works, and then will analyze that works. That analysis will become my thesis. During I join this subject; I get a lot of experience all about writing. I got some improvement in cognitive aspects, skill aspects, and affective aspects. Firstly is the improvement in cognitive aspects. After I joined this class, I knew more methods in writing. I knew how to make a paragraph with coherence and cohesion. 33 formulas make me so confuse, but it can be an experience that can not be forgotten. I become more understand about those formulas, knew how to memorize it easier and faster. Truly, I can check my composition by thesaurus, spelling and grammar tools, and I can seek the synonym without opening dictionary. At internet, there are many free online dictionaries which we use to add our vocabularies. And we must not to bring dictionary book, wherever we take a trip. We can use the online dictionary. I also can improve my idea become a complete paragraph, and make more paragraph to build an essay. I can change my words to the suitable words in the synonym tool. Become a writer is not easy. We have to have creativity, so after I joined writing 2, I knew the writers' happiness and sadness and their hard work. I became more understand about looking for the material of building paragraph, even building composition. Index of the source book made the material easier to be found. At least, I can see the illustration of making thesis, but it is just the example of making mini-thesis. Every word that we use is useful, so I must be more carefully to choose it, in order to match the word into the suitable sentence. And every word is important because one word and another word have a connection and coherence each other. Secondly is the improvement of skill aspect. By the way, unintentionally, I exercise my self to type quickly. And now, I think that my typing-skill become faster than the previous time. In writing we are exercised to type faster and faster. Whatever that we think is let to fill the page. Just let it flow, and finally we had many word that build a paragraph. I begin to have a skilful in writing, make some words become a sentence, some sentence become a paragraph, and then some paragraph become an essay, it means I begin to like play with the words step by step. In second writing class, we use computers as the media of writing, so because we always use computer, we become more understand about computer's programs. Then the third or the last is the improvement of the affective aspects. I am lazy girl. Moreover for writing subject, but after I had joined this class, I became more diligent, especially in writing and reading. I feel that I am more interested in writing; I always try to do the best for my writing. Not only in writing subject, I become more diligent to read everything with English language. Except for fun, reading can enrich our vocabularies. I am more enthusiasm in learning English. I usually feel sleepy in every lesson, but because of my enthusiasm, I seldom feel sleepy, even sleep, I can not sleep when I join this class. I always feel that I can not write anymore, but after I got many good methods in writing passage, particularly in English language, I think if I always try and try again, I will get my best writing. I have to be patient, become s good writer is not an instant way. Many great writers ever feel the same as me. They do not become a writer directly. They have to through many difficultness in their way become the famous writers. I feel more confident to gasp my own mind, my own idea, which shows my feeling. I become more confident to write an article or just a little or short composition. I felt happy although my works is good or not at all. But I felt happy, splendid, because I can write, at last. Congratulation…!!! My attitude for time and opportunity becomes wiser. I have a commitment that time is an opportunity, so I must use it as well as I can. The chance will not come twice. At last, I think the second writing class is the most attractive class in this semester. It has a lot of good facilities, such as: the comfortable room (with AC (air conditioner), computers, LCD, internet service and so on), the enjoyable condition, the very good lecturer, and the good service. I am sure that it can not be forgotten and become the amazing moment which I get during in learning English in this faculty. I like this e-learning method. It makes the academic not bored, and makes them become more active. An assignment which is given to the academics makes them more enthusiasm and have more skilful in using a computer's applications. Sometimes, there are bad attitude in writing class. Some academic do not give all of their attention to the lecturer because while they pay attention to the lecturer, they also look for another site in the internet. That bad attitude can be the introspection and an evaluation to the freshman. We must use it as well as we can. I realize that it is difficult to do but do not to surrender first before we do the best. And so not try to waste the lecturer's belief. Finally, I want to say “Thanks so much” for our beloved lecturer, Mr. Gun who helped us to improve our writing skill. You learned us all about writing, and make us more confident to show our ability. Writing becomes the nice subject. And do not let us to stop from this activity. Our journey is still long. Use every chance well. ***___***
